What are the impacts of Hydro-power on the environment?
Hydro-electric power has some impacts on the environment. The first is that when putting in a dam it may flood the surrounding area but once the water settles it will seem normal again because a controlled amount of water will be going through the dam.
Putting in a dam might also have effects on the animals that live there. For example it may affect the feeding habits and the water around dam might become a popular feeding place for other fish. But on the dam there is a fish ladder that lets all the fish down the ladder so that they can continue there path down the river.
If you live in the area where a hydro power station is in operation then you may or may not like the look of how it sits in the environment. Some people may say it looks good but some may say that it doesn't suite the environment.
However what the impact the positives and benefits will always outweigh the negatives.
